No Offense

No Offense

Rufus: Hey, what are you working on?

Jenny: It’s called the kiss on the lips party. Everyone is going.

Dan: You were invited to that? Well, no offense, if  I sound surprised, since I’ve never been invited.

Jenny: One of the girls in my art class saw my calligraphy, and she said that if I addressed all the invitations that I could have one.

Rufus: Sounds very fair. The sweatshops could learn a thing or two.

Address

所以写请柬可以用“I’m addressing the invitations.”

a thing or two解析

a thing or two是一个习语,表示“真相、内幕消息”等意思。如Know a thing or two表示明白事理,略知一二的意思。而show somebody a thing or two则表示给某人颜色看看,教某人几招。

walk in twos and theres

at the eleventh hour

at sixs and sevens

a nine day’s wonder
